Enough by John Naish Bit of anti-consumer rant but still quite enjoyable guide to reconciling our "cave man" brain wiring with modern day lifestyle issues.

Descarte's Error by Damasio Very interesting book about the relationship between Emotions and Rational Thought by a leading neuroscientist. Contains some very peculiar case studies about the mental impact of physical injuries to the brain.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy Bleak dystopian story about a father and son. Set in a post-nuclear war / environmental catastrophe. Not at all cheerful. But the writing is amazing - Biblical, vivid and poetic all at once.

Unweaving the Rainbow by Richard Dawkins Another great pop science book
